1. Matric / Grade 12;
2. Appropriate Hotel or Chef’s Diploma required;
3. 3 Years experience in a 5 Star Kitchen environment would be an added advantage;
4. Excellent Interpersonal and Communication skills required;
5. Strong organisational skills;
6. Computer literacy essential;
7. Shift work is an operational requirement.
1. Assist the Senior Chef with the supervision, control and co-ordination of the Kitchen staff;
2. Assume full responsibility for the Kitchen in the absence of the Senior Chef;
3. Assist with daily opening and closing stocks and balance back to micros daily report;
4. Monitor and supervise the methods of food preparation;
5. Maintain the highest level of standards in the preparation of food items as well as service of the food;
6. Check that all mis-en-place is prepared for food service and assist with the final preparation of the dishes;
7. Monitor operations during services times;
8. Assist in the receiving and storage of food, whilst checking quality and quantity;
9. Take stock of food items, if and when required;
10. Ensure clean and hygienic conditions of all work areas including refrigerators and storage areas, as per the required standards;
11. Roster staff in line with business demands;
12. Assist with On-The-Job Training of staff in the Kitchen;
13. Assist in the daily routine checks on the physical state of repair and cleanliness of the equipment being used in the kitchen.
